It was an early morning when The Watcher and Johnny woke up. They changed and got ready for breakfast. Johnny was feeling exhausted as the Warden warden had assigned him day and night jobs.

After thirty minutes, the The Watcher and Johnny went to the cafeteria. While walking to breakfast, something popped up from the Watcher’s mind. He told Johnny, “How were your past nights?”

Johnny seemed rather confused. He said, “Good, but I am quite confused who you are, and I feel like I have been in had a chaotic night a few days ago. I think it’s when two people screamed in the middle of the night.”

The Watcher mysteriously laughed laughed mysteriously. He responded, “I am the prisoner who failed to escape jail fifty-five years ago, like you. There is nothing special about me. Why don’t we go see what’s for breakfast?”

Johnny thought in his head, “This guy is so confusing. Throughout the five years he’s been with me, I am still have been confused whether he is a prisoner or a random guy who is trying to play tricks with me.”

After breakfast, Johnny and the The Watcher parted ways because they had different jobs in jail. Today, the Warden assigned Johnny the job of a cell cleaner. While being led to the cell he was meant to clean, he saw a lady also cleaning a cell. This was the first time Johnny saw had seen another inmate other than The Watcher.

Johnny had to diligently mop the floor until there were no spots left. He also had to wipe down the walls and make the bed look somewhat comfortable for the possible future inmates. After his six-hour shift, Johnny went back down, and he was getting ready to eat dinner.

While eating dinner, Johnny was already super tired, and he still had a night shift coming up at nine PM. On the other hand, when he turned to see The Watcher, he seemed to be full of energy and looked rather pleased.

Johnny asked him, “Hi, Watcher. I am so tired from the day shift already. Why are you not tired? Didn’t you also work today?”

The Watcher just smiled and didn’t answer the question.

On the way back to the their cell, the Watcher and Johnny silently returned to the cell. When Johnny first got to the cell, he changed into his other set of clothes.

On the way to cleaning, he scanned around to see the living conditions of the other cells. But when he turned because someone tapped him, he saw another human figure.

They both looked like they had seen each other before.

Johnny turned and found out that it was the mystery lady he had seen while cleaning the cell this morning.

He anxiously asked, “Who are you? What’s your name? Why are you here?”

The mysterious lady responded, “My name is Elise. I am an inmate. I don’t know why I should trust you, but recently I got in big trouble. I heard someone screaming five years ago and wanted to explore the area a week ago. Turns out I saw a man, and we both screamed. I got caught and ended up in another cell.”

Johnny, confused, said, “The scream five years ago was me. I also heard the screaming that you and the mysterious man did made.  I thought it was someone I knew named The Watcher, and it sounded just like him.”

The more Johnny and Elise talked about their experiences in jail, the more confused they got. The Watcher still seemed like a mystery to Johnny, and it felt like Johnny and Elise had been trapped!
