As Johnny and Elise continued, they did not realize that the warden was walking behind them.
Johnny said to Elise, “Yes, one of us should walk around the jail to see if the The Watcher is actually a prisoner.”
Elise asked Johnny, “What’s the purpose? Is this so like prisoner going to flame us on something?”
The warden thought in his head, “I have never seen someone talk like that to another prisoner. Who is The Watcher in the first place?
As Elise and Johnny got to their cells, he walked back to his office with a confused look.
As he got to his office, he first scanned through the prisoner files to see if anyone’s name was “The Watcher”.
After thirty minutes of searching, he found nothing. Confused, he instantly said to himself, “During breakfast tomorrow, I am going to go to one of the far tables and see who The Watcher is. I want to know what is happening and why he is so suspicious to all the other prisoners.”
The next day, right after the warden woke up, he bolted and sat at the breakfast table in the very back. He then saw Johnny and Elise walk in.
Thirty seconds later, he saw a middle-aged man walk in.
The warden sat for a moment and thought, “I’ve seen this man before, a long, long time ago. He used to cause a lot of trouble, and he probably still does. That may be why people are suspicious of him.”
Right before the Watcher went to work, the warden pulled him over to his office. The warden asked him, “Recently, I’ve been hearing from two prisoners that they are suspicious of who you actually are. What does that mean?”
The Watcher nervously replied, “No, I am also confused about why they are suspicious of me. My real name is Emmanuel Torres, and I got incarcerated here fifty-five years ago.”
The warden thought for a moment. He then said, “Ok, I get it. You are a prisoner like them. However, I have also been getting reports that you have been leaving the cell when you are not supposed to. How does that work?”
The Watcher was looking even more nervous and scared. He said, “Wh-h, h-huh? How am I supposed to leave the cell without being caught? There are so many guards there. It is impossible. I learned my lesson the last time I did it.”
