Since Minions: The Rise of Gru, came out, many teens and even adults have been dressing in suits to watch it.
Many movie theaters have been finding it annoying and disruptive, so most banned wearing suits. However, people keep going, and sneak suits in under casual clothes, disobeying the movie theaters.
They call themselves the “gentle minions” and use the hashtag “#gentleminions” when posting about it. Surprisingly, the hashtag has over 147 million views.
Something odd is that the official Minions TikTok account seems to support the action. Whoever is in charge of the account has been commenting on those who have participated in the “event” and even joining in a bit.
According to NPR, the trend probably is related to The Rise of Gru being an enormous success since it’s release, In the first week of its release, The Rise of Gru grossed about 164 million dollars.
One video about sneaking in the movie in suits had gotten over 10 million views and 1.5 million likes, going viral. There are many in the minion cult, people that collect minion toys, and of course, the “gentle minions”. However, the minions situation has gone too far.
People started sending death threats to those who are not interested in the minions. Minions will continue to thrive, but hopefully all the negative things about the new minions movie will go away.
