The Gates of Fall
Fall-
With the sickly sweet, honey-glazed key to the gates of the next season,
It closes the bronze doors of Summer.
Late flowers blossom, cherishing the last days of the sugary, sticky air and blazing sun.
The clouds rain one last warm downpour, raindrops settling into the earth, waiting for next summer.
It also opens the gate of Fall.

Leaves, fruits, nature
with a color palette even more varied than the wildflowers of Spring.
butterscotch- the color of tree sap with a trapped fly in it.
a fiery orange- the patch of round, ripe pumpkins casually sitting in a wild field
blaze- the smoke of burnt weeds thrown into the bonfire.
the whispers of the wind, breezing by
the occasional bellows of the red deer, the crunch of dry leaves breaking under its hooves
the honks of the migrating geese overhead, with the powerful sound of their wings flapping
the scurry of squirrels burying acorns, preparing for the long, cold winter.
Towards the end of fall, you will receive the hearty presents fall presents.
Melting figs at the tip of your tongue
the spiced squash that can be stored for winter
Apple cider- the pure taste of fermented bubbly tart apples-
Slowly, the season ends,
like the tiptoes of a little girl.
As morning frost settles, as the key to the gates of winter appears.
