A single sheet,
crisp,
new,
possibilities,
with more to try,
Into the sky,
altogether,
me with my mind
you with your design
tethered together,
one entity.
While we fly
I,
pride,
triumph,
delight,
When the moment ends,
I unfold you
fussing over
the imperfections
until it starts again,
The cycle ends when
you are crumpled,
your wings smushed,
your spine splintered,
your tail broken,
only then do I stop,
not to care for your
imperfections,
but to leave you behind.
It’s only then do you realize,
we are no longer an entity,
and you are just
another crumpled idea.
So why do I still smile
when I see you there
helpless,
in the darkness,
with all of the
other broken ideas?
Because –
for a moment
I was you
and you was I
