My love for Ariana Grande all started in 2016 when I first discovered the songwriter Ariana Grande. Ariana Grande Butera was born on June 26th 1993 in Boca Raton Florida. She started her career from a very young age, at age 8 she sang the national anthem at a Panthers Hockey game and starred in the Broadway show “14” at age 14. After that she started acting and starring in “Sam and Cat” and “Victorious.” After those shows ended she started releasing albums such as “Yours Truly” in 2013, “My Everything” in 2014, “Dangerous Woman” in 2016, “Sweetener” in 2018, “Thank u, Next” in 2019, “Positions” in 2020. During that time she continued to star in more movies, and participate in more shows such as “The Voice” and “Don’t Look Up.”
In 2016 when her Dangerous Woman album released I saw the “Side to Side” music video and “Dangerous Woman” music video in my YouTube recommended page. and I listened to them, and ever since those amazing songs I completely fell in LOVE with her. I started buying her merch such as shirts and CD’s, and listening to all her songs. Since then, it has been a lifelong dream to meet her in person and go to one of her concerts.
Flash forward to the fall of 2019 I was at Disney and saw on Instagram that her sweetener tour started. so I BEGGED my mom to get me VIP tickets, and conveniently it was around the time of my birthday when she came to Lexington Kentucky, so my mom agreed. After that I was SUPER excited to attend her concert and I couldn’t wait! In a flash it was already the day of the concert so I was all dressed in her merch and we drove to Lexington. When we got there, we went inside Rupp Arena and it was magical, all the cool flashing lights, fun cool stage setup, and the magical, doesn’t feel real vibe in general.
We had VIP tickets so we were able to be in the pit and we got there fairly early so we were towards the front of the stage. After some waiting, Ariana Grande walked out onto the stage and everyone in the whole arena started cheering. All the lights started to flash in cool patterns and eventually the music started. After the music started and Ariana Grande started singing, which felt so unreal because it’s been my dream to watch her live, she started spitting out the best vocals I’ve ever heard, all the heavenly high notes, and amazing tone in general. Her show had amazing light shows, lots of fan interactions, and amazing vocals. Some of my favorite songs she sang were “God is a Woman”, “Goodnight n go”, “Breathin”, and “R.E.M.”
After all the music we had the opportunity to go backstage and meet Ariana Grande herself. I got to take some pictures and talk to her. In that moment it felt so
unreal, I had to remind myself it was, she was so sweet and chill, and after that we got some concert exclusive merch and finally left.
All in all, that experience was one of a lifetime that not many people get to participate in, but it was super fun, and such a blast, getting to meet her, listening to her songs live, and the whole concert in general. After that it got even better, since it was time of my birthday we decided to push the party back to the next day so we had friends over, partied, ate, and swam. It was just such a fun week in my life that I will never forget.
