The Antikythera Shipwreck, first discovered in 1900, has brought us many ancient gifts dating back over 2,000 years ago. In late June 2022, researchers discovered the head of Hercules, the god of strength and heroes.
The head is made from marble, and the scientists believe the head matches the body of Hercules, who they discovered years ago in the shipwreck.
In 1901, a diver who visited the shipwreck was killed, and another 2 were paralyzed due to decompression sickness. This stopped people from visiting the shipwreck until Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his crew went there again in 1976. They found human skeleton remains, and some other objects there. Maybe the Antikythera shipwreck has more treasures waiting to be found.
