Techonoblade, one of the most popular Minecraft YouTubers with over 10 million subscribers, sadly passed away on June 30, 2022, from a fight with type 4 cancer. This Minecrafter died at the young age of 23, according to his family. Before his death, he posted one last emotional video titled “so long nerds,” where his father read aloud a note written by his late son.
In his message, he wrote,
“Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this, I am dead. So, let’s sit down and have one final chat. My real name is Alex. I had one of my siblings call me Dave one time in a deleted video from 2016 and it was one of the most successful pranks we’ve ever done. Thousands of creepy online dudes trying to get overly personal going ‘Oh hey Dave, how’s it going?’. Sorry for selling out so much in the past year but thanks to everyone that bought hoodies, plushies, and channel memberships. My siblings are going to college! Well, if they choose to. I don’t want any dead bro peer pressure on them. But that’s all from me. Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life. I hope you guys enjoyed my content and I made some of you laugh, and I hope you all go on and live long, prosperous and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade, Out.”
When the video of his father reading the message was released on YouTube, millions of people watched it, and it almost immediately reached the
#1
chart on YouTube. With about 11 million subscribers on YouTube and over 4 million followers on Twitter, Technoblade created a wide community of fans who devoted their time to him, watching his videos on Minecraft playthroughs with his humor and kindness. “From Technoblade’s earliest online days, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his audience – giving away online prizes, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most of all sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughs,” a statement from his family read at the end of the video.
Even though Technoblade has tragically passed away, his legacy, humor, and kindness will remain in most fans’ hearts. Even John Green, an American author, shared his condolences with Technoblade’s family.
“If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life,” the gamer wrote in a message to his community about 8 hours before he died.
