I would like to apply to Strake Jesuit because, in addition to providing a sense of teamwork and community, I feel the school could help me become a well-rounded student through art, sport, and academic programs. By applying the principles of the Catholic Church to my education, I hope to grow into a well-disciplined and knowledgeable man—a man for others.
Faith is one of the most important things in my life. It is the basis of my religious beliefs; it is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things unseen (Hebrews 11). For me, faith is not only a commitment to God but to the church and community. Praying and attending mass are two ways I put my faith to use. I have become accustomed to mass and praying since fourth grade when I began at Saint Laurence. I admire how the Strake community values faith as one of the most important ideologies of life, whether it comes from helping the community or spreading the word of God. I am especially impassioned by Strake’s commitment to supporting students as they engage with service work. Currently, I am working on completing my serves hours for the Leos club.
In terms of academics, it would be a privilege to immerse me in Strake’s prestigious programs. I love the balance that the curriculum offers, as I am interested in math and computer science but would enjoy experimenting with new subjects. In my free time, I enjoy reading action and adventure stories. Additionally, I appreciate the emphasis Strake puts on experience and application when it comes to learning. I would be excited to extrapolate the skills I learn in the classroom to the real world.
Another reason I would like to attend Strake is the athletic program. When I first started playing tennis, I was inspired by Rafael Nadal to become one of the best tennis players in the world. I have played tennis for four years and would like to try out for the Strake team. Having a robust sports program is very important to me, and in addition to pushing myself in the classroom, I love to push myself on the courts. Because Strake offers the unique opportunity to play against public schools, I feel I could challenge myself to become a much stronger player.
Attending Stake will expand my empathy, deepen my relationship with God, broaden my basis of knowledge, and push me to try new things. I hope to bring my commitment to mathematics and positive energy to campus.
