Shaquille O’Neal is a retired athlete, but his career has not ended. The legendary NBA athlete is gaining fans worldwide by selling franchises and creating businesses; he has become a fantastic businessman.

Shaquille explained his reasoning for starting his own business.

“I learned from the great Magic Johnson that it’s OK to be a superstar basketball player,” O’Neal said last year at the International Franchise Assn. Conference in San Diego. “But at some point, you want to start investing in businesses.”

O’Neal is the king at franchising: over his career, he has owned 40 24-hour fitness gyms, 155 restaurants, a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop, 17 Auntie Anne’s pretzel stands, and nine Papa John’s pizza places. He has appeared in famous commercials, like Frosted Flakes, Pepsi, Ring, and Tonka. Shaquille worked with live event companies, including Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group.

Furthermore, he has contributed as a strategic advisor for Forest Road Acquisition Corp. This company seeks companies to merge with and then take public. He is a strategic consultant for a mobile betting app named Wynn Bet.

To celebrate his contribution and his many roles, his basketball team hosted a “Shaq Summit” for several years to get representatives from all his brands to plan their campaigns.

Shaquille is not only a great businessman; he’s also a very likable person.

He has been described as having a fun-loving personality. He is willing to poke fun at himself and try to build a strong bond between himself and his consumer, so his customers can get to know him better. Shaquille also seems to be comfortable and happy with his life at the moment. It is what gives him the utmost joy.

“If you’re a really great personality, and the brands are fun, and you can make a lot of money in endorsements, then you can rely less on your investment portfolio because you will be able to work for as long as the eye can see,” said Ken Gunsberger, a managing director and private wealth advisor at UBS

O’Neal’s business has come a long way. He is a successful businessman with a notable career on the court.
