Pommelien Thijs, Famous in Half Her Country, is Unknown To Others
Pommelien Thijs is a 25-year-old Belgian singer. She grew up in Kassel, a town near Antwerp and is now famous in Belgium, at least in the part of the country where people speak Dutch. This famous Belgian singer though, is unknown to the other half of the country. The part where people speak French.
According to undefined, people don’t know who Pommelien is because of the strict language barrier between the Dutch-speaking part and the French-speaking part. This language barrier has caused the French-speaking people to be unable to understand Pommelien’s music and has resulted in them not knowing who she even is though she is beloved by half of Belgium. This happens because Belgium is divided and has three communities. North Belgium, South Belgium, and Central Belgium. North and South Belgium has their own language and most of the time, only that specific language is spoken. In Central Belgium though, both French and Butch is spoken making people living there able to understand Pommelien’s music.
According to the undefined, Pommelien writes all of her own music, but it’s written in Dutch. She said that she is working on music in French and hopes that she doesn’t accidentally offend any of the people.
I understand that she is very famous and her tunes are beloved in half of Belgium, but I think people shouldn’t wonder too much of who she is, what her music is, or dig into too much information just yet. What I mean is, right now, it’s too early for people to dig for so much information on her. No one knows when she will release her music for the French-speaking people. I think it’s best to save the hype for later when her music releases because this way people can save the hype for the release of her music. I mean sure, yes, people have their own opinion and can choose if they want to do more research on her or not but there are so many more singers out there that make music in French that are also very talented and famous. For example Charles Aznovour or Édith Piaf are some famous French singers. The language barrier was definitely created for a reason, and plus, Pommelien will eventually figure out a way for them to hear her music. When she does, that’s when people should start wondering and talk about her. Eventually, the time will come, when Pommelien will release her music for the people and it would probably be a very exciting and crazy event.
The time will come when the excitement will most likely be crazy. Pommelien will definitely try her best to make beautiful French music that hopefully won’t offend the people. If the French-speaking people love her music, maybe she’ll become the whole country of Belgium’s major pop star.
