The competition for the World Cup Golden Boot Contest has come to an end. The Golden Boot is awarded to a player who makes to most goals in the tournament. According to BBC news, “Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappé are leading the way with eight goals each.” Erling Haaland is sitting at 3rd place with 7 goals. The Golden Boot was first rewarded in 1982; it was later then named Golden Boot. It is one of the most exciting tournaments ever.
According to Yahoo, “Messi could become only the second footballer in history to win the Golden Ball, Golden Boot and World Cup in the same tournament, after Paulo Rossi in 1982.” This means if Messi wins the Golden Boot, he will be the second person in football history to win the golden boot reward.
