On Friday, the Department of Justice released the largest batch of the Jeffrey Epstein files, comprising up to 3 million pages of documents, files, videos, email chains, messages, and news articles. In total, there were 2,000 videos and around 180,000 images. The release shows that new people may have been involved with Epstein, such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and President Donald Trump.
Despite Mr. Trump’s initial opposition to the release, Congress mandated it in November. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the White House “had nothing to do” with this decision.
Despite Trump’s denial that he committed any wrongdoing in connection with Mr. Epstein, the files contained about 4,500 files about Trump. In response to Trump’s involvement, the Justice Department stated that the files “may include fake or falsely submitted images, documents, or videos.”
More emails, despite not being clear whether they were sent or not, reveal Epstein’s communication to Bill Gates. One email shows that Epstein may had helped Gates acquire drugs “in order to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls.” They also show that Epstein had organized meetings between Gates and married women, whose names and details were censored.
Additionally, the files revealed that Howard Lutnick had planned to visit Epstein’s island in 2012 despite claiming that he had cut off communications with Epstein in 2005. On Friday, he told the New York Times that since he had not seen the revealed files, he could not make further comments.
There were also revealed communications between Epstein and the British billionaire Richard Branson and Elon Musk, as well as his lawyer and accountant.
However, Mr. Blanche stated that this is possibly the last big release of the Epstein files.
