Major Problem “Fixed” in National Mall

Earlier this year, the widely known Reflection Pool in America’s National Mall was declared repaired. Despite this seemingly truthful remark, anyone could tell that this story is completely fabricated. The pool is now in worse condition than before repair began. Green algae constantly grows from the pool and cleaning proves futile. Many people now complain that a national wonder has been degraded into this troublesame state.

The famous Reflection Pool resides in America’s capital city, Washington D.C. In Washington D.C., there is an area filled with monuments of great American heroes built to remember them. The Reflection pool connects the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Memorial. It is a huge 2028 feet by 51 feet pool (or 618 meters by 15.5 meters). The pool was built in the late 1920s and lived mostly untouched to this day.

Due to some problems, the pool was repaired once in 2012, but a few issues, including algae, remained. In April of 2026, President Trump announced that the pool would be repaired because of these problems. This should have solved the problem, but President Trump was eager to finish it before the 250th American independence anniversary. Because of the rush, he hired inexperienced workers from a big company called Atlantic Industrial Coatings. This company had never worked on anything government related apart from the President’s golf course.

After the entire pool was scrubbed, washed, and painted, the pool was refilled. Unlike anything anyone imagined, the algae problem returned worse than ever. The entire pool turned green and removal of the algae was urgently needed. After Despite constant algae cleaning, the water remained green.

Scientists realized the problem long before the repairing of the Reflection Pool. The water for the Reflection Pool came indirectly from the Potomac River. This river is vital for crop growing so many farmers settle along its side. This caused fertilizer that got washed into the river to make it into the Reflection Pool. Because of the fertilizer, algae then grew at devastating speeds. To apply more salt on the wound, the paint in the pool started to come off and resulted in paint specks floating in the water.

All of this worsened the pool condition horribly. Green algae and a poorly painted pool made the once wonderous monument a place of disappointment. President Trump paid $16.4 million for a failed project.
