Just Like Them
Abby A.
The sun looked at us, like we were nothing.
Like we were too lowly to get its warmth
The wind hugged us tightly
Trying to give us the toasty warm feeling that the sun gave
But all we felt was the cold
The people walk by us, like we are the tiny rocks, hidden in grass.
Passing by
Like we were the shadows in the corners of the streets
But they don’t know
That we are just as important as them
We are just as amazing as them
All the people struggling are just like them
But those who are rich
Don’t see that.
All they see are people who failed in life
In studies
In friendships
In everything.
But we didn’t just fail
We are struggling
We are trying
And one day, we will be
As great as they are
We will be like the beautiful flowers in an empty garden
Where everyone will notice us.
We’ll be just like them.
