Inglewood Residents are not Happy with the World Cup

Los Angles homeowner, Adrian Pitts, expressed his complaints about the World Cup in a New York Times interview. As one of the many people living so close to the stadium that it almost feels like the game is taking place in their own backyard, he says that the noise, traffic, and trespassing has been very annoying.

Pitts lives about 14 feet away from Hollywood Park’s property. He has stated that this makes privacy an issue as well since any passerby can see his shower mirror from outside.

After each game, many fans celebrate and party loudly almost right outside Pitt’s residence at night. During the day, they would also cheer loudly when a goal was scored, making it harder for Pitt to concentrate on whatever he was doing. He stated that it has been harder to sleep and to wake up the next day for work. His commute time has also increased more than three-fold due to the traffic.

Pitts moved into his house in 2006, before the stadium was built. Now, his backyard’s light is mostly covered by the massive stadium. Many people are also worried that Hollywood Park might choose to expand, forcing the residents to sell their properties and move out.

Pitts also says that these problems are not only from just the World Cup. Many concerts, football games, and parties take place in the Los Angeles arena too, and some residents have even chosen to move.

The World Cup has been irritating for many Inglewood residents due to the noise and traffic. Citizens hope that the local government will regulate the traffic and noise, so residents will not be disturbed during events like the World Cup.
