A gigantic glamorous golden door stands in front of me, like a treasure box, gleaming with rays of warmth cast on it by the blazing sun behind my head. The door is filled with decorations – carvings of angels with majestic wings and mystical creatures singing together in harmony, the notes forming a calm and melodic melody, emitting a heavenly feeling towards me as I gape in the wonder of such a miracle.
Reaching out to grab the golden door knob covered in a vine of ivy, I feel a tingling sensation all over my body, overwhelming me with curiosity and fear. The coolness of the round knob contrasts the heat outside and lessens my intense feelings as I rotate it to find the treasure of my life.
The second there is a crack in the door, light blinds my eyes as my body goes numb for a few seconds. I start to shiver, unable to move with my mini-panic attacks. Suddenly, time stops. I open my eyes in preparation for a scintillating setting. However, my nebulous surroundings surprise me. I am in a storm of mist and clouds, miniature gentle raindrops landing on my face. I continue down the long brick road, through precious diamond trees, through sturdy marble statues of cunning-looking centaurs, and through deep mysterious wells containing a suspicious, sweet-smelling liquid until I reach a valley.
The gorgeous valley was unlike any other I have seen – filled with different shades of green, yellow, and orange, and flowers and trees pop out at me like a crystal in a pile of stones. A blanket of milky-white snow covers far away mountains, while clouds reach their fluffy cotton arms to me like a welcome sign. I spot a shallow river at the base of the valley, with rainbow-colored fish jumping in and out of the same lavender liquid as before, and with each step I take towards the lake, the more comfortable I feel about the place.
Soon enough, I arrive at the lake feeling more and more in a daze. I start to become sleepy and knock out. A piece of white cotton falls from the sky to where I unknowingly collapsed on the soft grass, right where my head would be if I were to lay down. Then darkness…
Clip clop, clip clop, clip clop. As I open my eyes, my muscles sore and my head foggy from all the walking, I realize I’m riding a horse-like animal. It is black with beige spots from head to hoof with pure white hair and piercing eyes as black and mysterious as the night sky. The only thing unusual about it is that the animal has wings like a dragons’ and its tail is a long wave of a silk-like fiber. As it moves, sparkles shimmer and flash in the trail. I wonder how I got onto the creature, and where it is taking me.
After a while, the horse-like animal stops trotting and almost communicates to me without making a single sound, telling me to stay where I am, and then flies away into the fluffy clouds of cotton. I look around, not moving an inch, trying to remember the dumbfounding past. I close my eyes and try to meditate, but I fail miserably and open my eyes again to find a golden dog with large, angelic wings and a black top hat like the kinds magicians wear.
“Why hello there, young fellow!” The dog says, “We’ve been waitin’ for someone like thee to arrive. It’s been years without thee kind o’ creature. I shall introduce myself; I am zee’ guardian of zee’ golden gateway of zee’ realm. The name is Dardanes, I am a Dougasus – part dog, part angel, part of this world, land of peace, harmony, and relaxation. Here in honor to welcome you to zee’ realm.”
Hearing a dog – a Dougasus as a matter of fact, speak in a language that I could understand, is beyond all my expectations and limits, and I begin to get more homesick by the second.
“Mister Dardanes, is it possible to go back? To get out of this realm?” I ask in a squeaky small voice.
“Quite frankly, there is a path. Follow thee!” Dardanes replies.
Dardanes spreads out his wings and holds out his delicate paw. I take his paw and grasp onto it for dear life as Dardanes flies through the puffy fluffy clouds as fast as lightning.
It was not long until we got to the golden door where I entered the realm. I let go of Dardanes’ hand and go to the golden door. As I am about to leave, I look back at Dardanes and the magical world.
“I give my thanks to you, for visiting us. But please, promise me that thee’ll come back. Never in a few years has an outsider stumble into this world of magic and peace, and never have I ever experienced a time where I have introduced myself and cause such great shock amongst thee.” Dardanes says with a sad look on his furry golden face.
My discovery was a great land of magical creatures, and the unfamiliar feeling of peace, harmony, connection, and teamwork that the outside world rarely ever has. This treasure is one of a kind, a lesson for myself, something that I truly need.
“I will, I promise, Dardanes. I will come back for you.”
