As the final minutes of the first Euro game of 2024 which is Scotland versus Germany approaches, the fans of the Scotland soccer team hope for a miraculous turnaround as Scotland is down 4 points. However Scotland’s fate is set in stone as the game ends in devastating defeat since the scores are 1-5.

The turn of events leading up to this are quite disappointing and they are as follows. Germany’s midfielder Florian Wirtz scores a goal within the first 10 minutes of the game which gives Germany’s team a lead early in the game. This lead is quickly extended as another of Germany’s midfielders, this time being Jamal Musiala, scores a goal within the next 10 minutes. The next goal happened within the first half from Kai Havertz’s penalty, who is also a midfielder just like the other 2 who scored. They got this penalty after Scotland’s Porteous was off the field after a bad tackle which meant Scotland only had 10 people on their team left.

In the second half,Niclas Fullkrug’s kick netted Germany yet another goal bringing the score to 0-4.1 hour and 7 minutes into the game,Scotland losing badly must have brought a second wind to them because around 20 minutes later they managed to score their first goal of the game bringing the score to 1-4.However this did nothing as just 5 minutes later Germany’s Emre Can scored 1 final goal bringing the total score to 1-5.

This was not only a devastating defeat for Scotland, but also Germany’s biggest victory ever at the Euros so far.
