Gaming is a sport
Now, this may seem a little strange to you, but I think that gaming is a sport. It has all the key parts of a sport that make it a sport, so it seems unrealistic to say that it’s not. For example, there are pro gaming teams, just like any other sport. In soccer, there are clubs, which consist of special teams based on skill. There are also teams for virtually any sport, even though it might be played solo. For instance, for tennis, you would train with your team, but you also might only play singles for them. Now, in video games, there are not many instances where you play without your teammates, unless it is 2-player, which is very rare.
Another reason why I think gaming is a sport is that you also need to strategize and have good hand-eye coordination. Just like any other sport, in gaming, you cannot just know how to play and charge right at the enemy; you need to strategize with your teammates. You also need good hand-eye coordination because if you don’t, you will never hit a single shot. Now, in soccer, you also would need a good strategy. As stated, you can’t just charge at the other team because you would be double-teamed and lose the ball. You also would need good hand (or foot) to eye coordination so you can control the ball, pass, and shoot.
Now, you might be thinking, “Hey! Gaming is just typing! Soccer actually involves movement! You are just sitting there, not moving around!”. This is all true, but chess is also considered a sport by the International Olympic Committee because of its competitive nature, mental demands, and its organizational structure. Gaming is also mentally demanding because you have to think of a strategy in a second. The other two should be obvious that they are in common.
Finally, Gaming is literally called E-Sports.
