Dear Zoey,
I have too many questions to ask. But anyways, how has the 2026-2027 school year been? Was it fun? Was it tiring? Or somewhere in between? I sure hope it was pretty good. Did you stress yourself out? Did you procrastinate like we promised ourselves not to?
How was the beginning of 8th grade? If everything went well, maybe you got classes with our friends and had fun goofing off during free seating. What did you write on those “Get to Know Me” posters? Have your answers changed when it comes to your favorite food and hobby? What did you say when they asked what you did over the summer? I hope that nobody said that lunch was their favorite subject, because, as much as we hate to admit it, lunch is, in fact, not a subject.
After the thrill of back-to-school wore off over the first few days, I’ll assume teachers started teaching, and homework started to pile up in the corner of our desk. Is biology my favorite subject so far? Will I be able to play Minecraft again after the school blocked it for the fifth time?

Do I still hang on to my straight A’s or do my expectations get lower as tests become harder while the approaching shadow of high school looms over me? Did I start worrying about AP classes, or even college? Did I actually hang out with my friends? I’m nervous that the huge jump from middle to high school is too wide for me to handle. I don’t like to think that I have to start staying up until midnight to prepare study for some test that’s worth half of my grade.

Even if I get through it all, how was graduation? Did my dad find a lucky spot in the parking lot, close to the gym? What’s the color of my graduation dress? I hope it’s navy blue., my favorite color. Did I cry, sob, or stay nonchalant? Most importantly, how will I feel when two thirds of my childhood is over?

I hope memories were made this year, whether through pictures, friends, or family. At last, what were your favorite three memories from the 2026-2027 school year?
Your future self,
Zoey
