This is the concept of Darkroom. Beatrice is in middle school. She feels almost invisible and she often gets made fun of. Suddenly, she finds an eerie indie horror game and streams herself playing it. Beatrice and Rochelle, her only friend, start to get donations and new followers. But as days pass by, she starts putting herself and the people around her in trouble.
I think this book was a very great book for a horror book. It was definitely one of the most scariest books I’ve ever read. My overall rating out of five stars for this book is honestly a 4.7 out of 5. I deducted 0.3 stars because of the cover. The cover of the book, specifically the one I got, was super scary. It was a visual version of the Devouring Woman. She had sunken eyes, and pale blue skin. I love horror stories for the plot, but I personally hate scary imagery.
This book is great for anyone who loves a lot of spooky scares. I would really also recommend this book to anyone if they don’t really like seeing a very scary picture and if you really like doing visual thinking and mental visual imagery. However, if you really like scary books and you’re not afraid of anything, not even spooky images, then this book is a perfect match for you!
