SEASONS
Flowers begin to blossom,
after a cold, stormy month.
The sun begins to shine,
waking from its winter sleep.
Away goes the snow;
in return comes the rain.
Squirrels and possums,
come out of their den,
as their food stores become low,
almost at an end.
Farmers look up,
and smile at the sky;
the rain has returned,
and their crops are saved.
Restless children are anxious to play,
so outside they run;
outside in the rain.
A few weeks pass,
and the rain is gone.
In its place,
is a big hot sun.
With no rain,
the flowers whither;
with no rain,
the fields grow dry.
In the summer heat,
children run and scream,
’til the sun goes down,
and they go about.
The leaves have fallen,
the air has chilled.
Plants shed their green,
animals stock supply,
as they prepare for the winter,
as they prepare for the breeze.
Children wear jackets,
with scarves wrapped tight,
and hands in sleeves,
they prepare for the night.
When the cold finally comes,
clouds hiding the sun,
children look up,
hands and feet numb.
The air now frosty,
the flowers now frozen,
snow begins to fall,
down, down, down.
Though it is cold,
the children jump in glee,
and rush out in a flee.
They jump up and down,
in the white cotton candy dream.
No matter the season,
no matter the reason,
one can always enjoy,
some laughter and joy.
So go out and about,
and spread some love,
like the sunshine below,
and the starlight above.
