Climate Change Will Change the Future

Once upon a time in the future, there was a stray cat, living in a world heavily disrupted by climate change. One day, it was suffering from the immense heat in the countryside. “Meow!” it said. “It’s so hot! I’ll look for some shade to take a nap in.”

He tried to find shade under a tree. “Meow, it’s still hot.” He tried to find shade behind a house. “Meow, it’s still too hot.” He tried to find shade in many places, but everywhere he went, it was still too hot.
So, he decided to walk downtown, where he hoped it would be less hot. He walked and walked and walked. It was a very long trek, but eventually, he got there. The cat frowned. “Meow! It’s even hotter here!”

Despite this, he tried to find shade there anyway, as he did not want to walk all the way back to the countryside. He tried to find shade behind the mall. He tried to find shade in a hole under the mall. Though he found some rats to snack on, it was still hot. Even inside the mall, it was still way, way too hot.

While he was looking for a shady spot, it suddenly started raining. “Meow!” he said. “For once, I appreciate the rain. It’s kind of cooling me off.”

But it kept raining and raining. Soon, the cat started getting a little annoyed. “Meow! That’s enough rain!”

But it didn’t stop. It kept on pouring. Suddenly, the city started flooding! “Meow!! I told you that’s enough rain! Now I’m all wet!” But the water level kept rising, and the cat began to get washed away.
“Meow! What are you doing?! Stop!” But the water didn’t stop. It carried the cat away into a nearby city… which just so happened to be experiencing a blizzard.
“Meow! What’s with the crazy weather?!” the cat said. The snow quickly buried him. “Meow!” he cried out. “Help!” He couldn’t breathe, and he thought he was going to suffocate. Suddenly, a group of climate activists rescued him from the snow and took him back to their home.
“Don’t worry, little guy,” they told him. “All of this crazy weather is caused by climate change. Luckily, we’re climate activists, and we’re trying to stop it. You can be the first-ever feline climate activist!
“Meow,” said the cat. “I like the sound of that.”
The End
