Book review on Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen, later edited by Clare West. The book that tells the story about a girl named Elizabeth and her sister Jane’s love story that is quite the roller coaster. This book is not a masterpiece, but a good novel to spend your spare time, as there isn’t too much to hold you back.
One pro about this book is the author’s use of advanced vocabulary. The author is able to illustrate her point clearly with the clever use of words throughout the story. The book has both modern and old language, which combined to convey the flaw of prejudice.
The disappointing part of the book is the lack of discussion about pride, the book doesn’t talk much about pride as promised in the title. The author decided to paint pride as a quality to dislike, but not why pride is such a setback. Austen tries to hide Elizabeth’s serious pride (almost arrogance in her way of judging people), such as when Elizabeth heavily dislike Darcy at first sight because she though he was arrogant, under the disguise of politeness and her strong personality
