I hope to get better at volleyball by working on my setting, defense, and serves. Being able to consistently deliver the ball to the hitter in the same spot is crucial for the hitter to hit the ball well and to avoid the block. Another important aspect is my defense. The ability to pick up a ball hit at me will help the game and our team, so we don’t lose points. We can’t just lose points; we also have to win points. A main skill I have gained many points in is serving. Serving flat float serves that aces the opponent can help our team make a run, and lower the opponent’s self-esteem. Not only skills, but also my leadership and communication abilities in games. Learning how to stay positive in thought situations and maintain a positive mindset is equally important.
Beyond being a fun sport to play, volleyball is a significant part of my life. Doing well can help with college admission and early graduation. It also offers scholarships to private universities. Not only that, but volleyball can help me stay active, and I can easily connect with people who share my love for this sport, the same energy, and passion. It reminds me to value teamwork, communication, and perseverance, all skills that help me in school, in reaching goals, and in friendships. Playing volleyball not only makes me a better athlete, but it can also help me become a better person-someone who has leadership, resilience, and perseverance, skills that will greatly help in life.
