One day, a nine-year-old kid named Maximus listens to Greta Thunberg’s speech about climate change and feels very motivated to help prevent global warming. After getting inspired, Maximus would wake up at four in the morning, so he wouldn’t be late for school. Then, he would get ready for school. To get to school, Maximus rides his bike passed down from his great grandfather. Even though it takes an hour and a half to bike to school, Maximus wants to reduce his greenhouse gas emissions, so he bikes. On his way to school, he picks up trash on the way and recycles it to clean up his community. Once Maximus gets to school, he tells everyone to prevent climate change and continues to clean up trash. After school, Maximus bikes to his local park to plant some trees and rides home. At home, he tries to minimize his electricity and water use by turning off appliances, turning off faucets, and using LED light bulbs.
Another kid, named Victor, does not care about climate change. He gets up at seven and uses a massive pickup truck that is not very fuelefficient to commute to school. He throws trash out the window and pollutes the world. Once he arrives at school, he litters even more and bullies Maximus for telling everyone to bike to school and plant trees. When Victor gets home, he turns on his 100inch TV and forgets to turn off the faucet after washing his hands. Then Victor decides to turn on his washer, dryer, dishwasher, and oven. He does not actually use any of these appliances. Finally, Victor left his fridge open after grabbing a soda.
On a fine, summer morning, Maximus’s bike ride to school was reduced to an hour because there was tailwind. There was no trash on the road, which Maximus was delighted to see. During lunch time, he received a call from his dad.
“I just won the lottery!” Maximus’s dad cried euphorically.
“Ha ha ha, so funny,” Maximus said sarcastically.
“I actually won”
“Really?”
“Yes, Really!”
“Cool! I’m going to plant 20,000,000 trees with that money!”
“Sure.”
Then, Maximus got 102 percent on a test, saved a cat, and received a million dollars from a mysterious guy. Maximus is happy.
On a misty, spring morning during Victor’s commute to school, Victor’s dad drove on a nail, so he had to walk five miles uphill, cross three rivers, and fight two lions to get to school. Then, it started raining, which turned into a thunderstorm. Victor got struck by lightning. Since Victor didn’t have a phone, he can’t call 911, and the teachers thought he was playing dead. Victor lay there for fifteen minutes, then he died a painful death.
As you can see, you should always help prevent global warming.
