On the Wednesday morning of August 6, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba attended a ceremony along with other citizens marking 80 years since the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945. Shortly after the Hiroshima bombing, a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, another Japanese city. Officials from around the world gathered at Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park to attend the prayer services.
World War 2 ended in 1945, when the US dropped bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, pressuring Japan to surrender due to the mass destruction and ended, the bombs caused a lot of demolition, causing thousands to die tragically. Because of the magnitude of the event, even until today, people worldwide still remember what happened, and each year commemoration services are held to mark the incident.
People light incense sticks and candles, while others place flowers to commemorate those who have passed away. Children and young people also rang large bells at the National Service of Prayer and commemoration. Doves were released at the center of the park, too, to symbolize peace. Monks stood in front of the memorial statues, many with flowers scattered around them.
The heartbreaking event 80 years ago is still remembered until today, with commemorating.
