On a hot summer night, the moonlight shone in the sky, and there were plenty of stars. Just looking out her window made Luna feel so calm and relaxed. It seems like tonight is perfect for stargazing, thought Luna to her self as she was having dinner. After dinner, when the sun went down and the moon came out, Luna laid a blanket on the grass in her backyard and leaned back to observe the stars.
Luna stared at the stars for a really long time, and the longer she looked at them, the lower and heavier they seemed. The stars looked like bright yellow berries waiting to be picked off a tree. She felt as if a long armed man could reach right out and grab a bunch of shining stars from the sky.
Luna closed her eyes and imagined what it would be like if she really was a long armed man. She would reach out and use her fingers to scoop up a handful of stars. She would keep them in her bedroom to save for later. Whenever her room got too dark or scary at night, she would pull one out to light up her room, like a nightlight.
The sky felt closer and closer to the grass. It felt like the whole world was shining with bright starlight. Luna never actually tried to reach out and grab a handful of stars, but just watching them made her feel like she had a little of their secret magic inside her. She lay all the way back, and kept staring at the stars. She knew it was already way past her bedtime, so Luna smiled at the stars one last time, and went through the back door to her bedroom.
