10-Year-Old on Royal Ballet
A 10-year-old named Jessica joined The Royal Ballet on July 21st, 2025. The Royal Ballet is an internationally renowned British classical ballet company. Jessica is a ballet dancer from Norfolk, Virginia who just received some very exciting news. Jessica started dancing when she was 4 years old. For the young ballet dancer, Jessica would have to learn flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, and posture. She hopes to be likes Darcey Bussell, a former ballerina and judge on the television show Strictly. Strictly is a British TV show about celebrity, and professional dancers who compete each week to put on the best possible performances.
Jessica has been dancing since she was 4 years old. Jessica spoke to BBC Norfolk and explained that when she was four years old, she asked her mom if she could join a dance class. She said “My legs wanted to move. I did watch Strictly Come Dancing when I was younger, I was just [like] wow. I want to do that.” She continued on to say that “I just feel special. I just feel in my comfort zone and I just feel relaxed.” When she started her dancing class, she carefully learned each movement and dancing position with her ballet teacher Trina Lee. Jessica had been training hard. She remembered every dance skill that the teacher taught her. The Ballet teacher Trina Lee said she was “very pleased” that Jessica had made it to the prestigious training scheme.
When Jessica was 10 years old, she won a place on a prestigious training scheme run by the famous Royal Ballet School. The Royal Ballet School’s Junior Associate Program only has a small number of places available to young dancers each year. It’s very hard to get in. At Jessica’s audition there were more than 2,000 dancers competed. When Jessica found out she got a spot, she was so excited that she jumped up and down. Jessica’s dance ballet teacher’s comment said her “technique is beautiful”, and that she has the ability to go as “far as she likes with dancing.”
I believe Jessica can follow her dreamsnot give up. Then her dream will come true.
