10-Year-Old Joins Royal Ballet School
Jessica, a 10-year-old from King’s Lynn, Norfolk, was “shocked” when she secured a spot on the Royal Ballet School, a prestigious ballet training program. She will be joining the Junior Associate Program within the school, which trains young dancers like her.
When Jessica was just four years old, she begged her mom, Lucy, to go to a dance class.
“My legs just wanted to move,” she said.
Jessica thought that she was hopeless after applying for the program, since there were more than 2,000 people at the audition. She “jumped up and down and cried” when she found that she was picked.
A Royal Ballet School spokesperson said that the program was excited to welcome Jessica into the Junior Associate Program, founded by Dame Ninette de Valois.
brilliant technique and a great attitude.
“She’s very passionate about it, and if you can get that mix right within a child, you know that they can take themselves far.”
Her love for dancing was inspired by watching the show Strictly Come Dancing, and she wants to be the next Darcey Bussell.
