Hi Future Me! It is currently July 8th, 2022. I want you to read this “rant” exactly a year from now on July 8th, 2023. There are two reasons I’m doing this. Number one: I need to write something for EWJ. Number two: you did this in Anatomy class and you thought it was really fun to see how you have developed over the year. You learned so much throughout the year.
First off, you went back to school after almost 2 years of online school. It was made worse because you moved to a new school and didn’t know anybody. But, you made new friends. From this, I encountered my first set of fake friends. I want you to remember to always be on the lookout for fake friends. I don’t ever want their toxicity or judgment in my life, you will be so much better without them.
I want you to remember responsibility and trust. The summer of 2022 is when I learned those lessons. I got a car and a dog within one week. My parents trusted me to drive and be responsible and safe on my own. I don’t want to violate their trust. The puppy was tons of work. You had to potty-train her, feed her, take her on walks, and so on. However, it was all worth it in the end. You couldn’t be happier. Having responsibilities is hard, but the reward is greater than the sacrifice.
I want you to remember hard work. This summer, you went to nationals and got 9th as a level 8 tumbler. It didn’t happen overnight. You worked so hard at practice, ate healthy, and made sure to sleep well, just so you would be ready for nationals. Hard work truly does pay off.
These are the lessons I learned sophomore year. Please, don’t forget them, they’ll help you tremendously in the future.
