Dear mini Evelyn,

Today is August 25, 2026, and we just started school a week ago. I remember on my first day in second grade, I was excited because I was in the same class as my best friend. In this short letter, I will tell you some things you should look out for in the future and some advice.

As you might know, I or should I say we, were afraid of teachers in the higher grades. Those teachers may look intimidating, but in reality, they aren’t as scary. They are just as nice as all of the teachers you have had so far. I think you will enjoy your 4th grade teacher very much.

In 5th, 6th, and 7th grade, make sure to pay attentionbecause you will have tons of homework and extracurricular classes to complete. A tip is to pay attention to your homework before going off to play.

I realize that in second grade, I was always afraid of the dark, and that creatures would appear out of the closet or bathroom. Just pretend those creatures are cute and cuddly, just like our favorite animal.

One of my biggest wishes in second grade was to get a cat. Mom might consider one.
