Missing Valerie

Dear family, friends, and fans,

Hey! It’s me again! The famous dog who ran away from its owners during a camping trip. Honestly, I had so much fun!

Seriously, I didn’t want to upset anybody. I just wandered off on a holiday.

One week before the camping trip, I had heard from my best friend, Tiger, that the Kangaroo Island was very fun. He had gone to that island with his owners last season. But then, I never saw him afterward, so I was just worried about him.

Luckily, my owners (Georgia Gardner and Josh Fishlock) decided to go camping on Kangaroo Island on November 2023.

I was excited at first. I thought Kangaroo island was a magical place where the trees were made of scrumptious bones, and where we dogs could roll in the mud all the time. But I was wrong. It looked just like any place in Australia.

So, when my owners went on a bathroom break, I snuck away to discover where Tiger was.

At first, the rest of the island was just the same as the campsite. I was going to go back to my owners when I saw a splendid sight: Meadows of brightly colored flowers, stretching endlessly across the horizon. There were even rabbits for me to feed on! I thought that this was one of the best lives a dog could hope for.

I thought: Tiger must be thriving on the island! I instantly forgot about returning to my owners. I was in the meadows, relishing the beauty of the wild when I saw a great lump on one of the trees. It looked like something tasty. I bounded up to the lump, drool dripping through my mouth, and took a huge bite from it. It tasted sweet and sugary. I was going to take a second bite when a swarm of something small with wings and a tiny yellow and black body flew at me. Bees! My instincts told me to run.

Months passed, and I lived happily, chasing rabbits and running freely through the meadows. I failed to find Tiger, but that wasn’t a problem to me anymore. I was satisfied with my life, but there was still a small part of my heart that was hollow. A small part of me still wanted to be with my owners. That’s why I came back!
