A piece of the SpaceX rocket has crashed into the moon. This can give scientists a opportunity to study about what happens when something like a piece of a SpaceX rocket hits the surface of the moon.

A little piece of the rocket was smashed into the surface at around 5,400 miles per hour. That is about seven minutes in the speed of sound. Meanwhile in America, there were images of stars and planets when it is still dark through the telescope. Images would take days and days or even weeks to check the data for the accuracy. It is a “two stage rocket.” Rockets are often built in sections called “stages.” The first stage gives the rockets its first push away from our Earth. The second stage then helps the spacecraft fly farther into space to let us scientists explore more deeper into space. This second stage launched in January 2025, carrying two robotic moon landers. The robotic moon lander is like a camera for researchers us to take pictures of the planet.

The company calls the rocket a “reliable and safe transport of people and payloads into earth’s orbit and beyond.’’
The rocket is reusable and designed to return back to Earth for the next mission. This means that it can be used again and again, but some parts of the rocket goes into space and just remain there. This means that some parts of the rocket are not taken back to Earth.
The part of the rocket that hits the moon was left in a long orbit around Earth.
