The death rates of recent southern Japan earthquakes have risen. Rescue teams and local officials have been trying their best to rescue those who are most affected by the disaster, such as workers and shoppers. There was a destructive magnitude 6.8 earthquake on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 that collapsed many homes, buildings, shopping malls, trapping individuals in the huge building. This raised the death toll to 34. This earthquake took place at Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan. Many got trapped in the buildings and died in less than 48 hours due to the recent heat.
Many rescue teams and search teams were focused on The Kashima Shopping Center. Luckily, five individuals were saved from the collapsed building. During the earthquake, a heavy factory chimney also collapsed at a local paper factory. Thankfully, the rescue teams rescued two survivors, but they are still looking for one missing person. They have also recovered eight deceased victims. Officials ordered more than 150,000 people to evacuate when the earthquake started. There was also a brief tsunami warning issued, however the warning was gone a while later.
