In 2027, the London marathon will take place over 2 days in April. According to CBBC, “The new format will mean that more runners will be able to take part in the main event, which is scheduled for the weekend of 24 and 25 April 2027.”

This special event is also expected to raise money for charities. The mini-London Marathon will have around 20,000 young participants completing the last mile of the route, will be held on Friday 23 April. The mini-marathon is different because the official marathon takes place for 2 days.

A record 1.3 million people have signed up for this marathon, making it the most popular marathon ballot ever. The marathon is a one-time event, it is there to raise money to donate to charity. The event is only planned and organized for 2027, people say it is a 1 off event.

All 20 thousand runners must follow the usual London Marathon route from Greenwich to Westminster, and more details will be confirmed in the coming in the next few months. London Mayor Sadiq Khan also agreed to the plans, saying he was “delighted” that the race was expanded for 2 days in 2027. This year, history was made when Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe became the first athlete in history to run a marathon in 2 hours in race conditions.
