Schools should definitely close when it gets super hot outside! Your classroom shouldn’t feel like a giant oven when it’s burning hot outside. In my opinion, if the temperature goes above 80F, the principal should cancel school for the day and let everyone go home.

When it does get that hot, everyone is so sweaty, sticky, and tired that all they can even think about is when they will finally get to go home and rest. Sitting in a burning classroom all day does not help students learn anything anyway. Instead, it will make everyone feel grumpy, sleepy, and like their body is not functioning properly.

It’s even worse for schools without air conditioning. Students just want to sit in front of a giant fan all day. But even there, the fans will probably just blow hot air, and that makes students feel like they’re going to die anyway. It makes it so much harder for these kids to do their work than it is for the students at schools that have AC.

School leaders need to fix this problem as soon as possible! From now on, if any school gets way too hot, principals need to let students stay home from school or attend remotely. It’s way easier to learn new things when your brain is not thinking about how hot it is. I think there should be air conditioning in every single classroom, but until schools fix this huge problem, students should stay home where it is nice and cool!
