High above the rope grounds,
I sweat looking for other options,
as the ground intensifies in front of me as it pounds,
the world shaking around me.
A couple years ago, when I was little
I tried almost all of the rope course,
with all my bravery,
and attempt that one zip line I haven’t tried,
but somehow…
after all of those attempts,
I still have not prevailed.
Until now.
Shivering with a mix of nervousness and excitement,
I take one step forward to the sight of wow,
the frightening sight that when you’re high above ground,
and hundreds of people below you,
but knowing if you do it that, you’re going to be crowned.
So, what was I going to do?
Well, there was only one way to find out.
With one last chance,
I raced to the edge of the line and hooked to the bottom of the railing,
knowing that there was no going back,
I swinged at full power,
and started riding down full speed!
Still, somehow, this time… it felt different,
no screaming, no panicking,
no clutching to the rope,
the zip line felt… good.
As I walked to the exit,
but somehow,
a sense of triumph fulfilled me
and I walk through the gate.
