Naomi Osaka is known for her excellent tennis skills and for winning many Grand Slams. Osaka isn’t only known for her skills, however; she is also recognized for her unique outfits that most players wouldn’t wear.

At Wimbledon in 2026, Osaka stuck to the All England Club’s strict “all-white” rule while also acknowledging her culture and heritage by deciding to wear a Japanese dress, known as a kimono.

When it came time to play, Osaka removed her kimono and won her game 6-1 7-5. After her first win, she told reporters that “If I dive deeper into Japanese culture, I think about the most iconic silhouette, which for me is a kimono. You don’t have to see the color of a kimono to know that it is a kimono.”

Osaka has previously worn many other iconic outfits to her matches. In the 2026 Australia Open, Naomi Osaka wore a jellyfish-inspired dress with an oversized hat. In the 2026 French Open, she wore a golden sparkles dress, which she said was meant to look like the Effiel Tower at night.

Many of her outfits are inspired by something or someone from her real life. Her jellyfish dress, for instance, was inspired by a book she read when she was young. Osaka stated that “Sometimes people say athletes are in show business or entertainers or whatever. For me, Grand Slam walk-ons are the only time that I possibly feel like I’m an entertainer.”
