Was I born on the wrong date? This was one of the questions I have been deliberating. Was I not supposed be be born during the Great Depression? Was I to drain my parents hope and money the moment I was born? Was I the reason my dad hung himself?

My mother told me about the story of when she met my dad. Everyone was rich and everything was great. Now, how I need to work hard to help out and be the man of the house since dad went. I hear my mother crying every now and then, and the next morning she acts all bright and cheery as though nothing had ve ever happened. My mother has never been the same since the Dad went. She is injecting liquid into her arm, and drinking orange liquid everyday. I asked her if she was sick and if she had to take those everyday. I even offered to go work for her if she was, but she always just shook her head no.

My mother does not know, but, I have been selling newspapers to make some extra money for her. I always put the money I earned in her money box. She thinks that God gave her the money. I know I should not and I would never say it in front of mom, but I think that it is clear that there is no God. Or else why would mother still be going out early in the morning and coming back late at night? I did not even have the chance to see her. Not until a few months ago, when she was is only allowed to work for half a the day and not get fired.

Now came this day. This stupid day. where The day my mother fell through the mine and… and died. Now, I am looking at the ceiling where my father stands is in his glasses and mother in her dress. I watch them dance around the room. Sometimes they look at me, and sometimes they just dance. The cold and snow was blowing through the window, but and I did not notice. My body was purple from the cold and in great pain, but I still did not notice. I only saw my parents, together, and waving at me to come with them. Tears slid across my face as I suddenly felt light and floated toward my parents. Toward what I call freedom.
