So how do people cool down from the scorching weather? They are forced to perform these actions: schools forbade students to go outside during breaks or lunch times. People were forced to take ice cold showers, sleep on sofas instead of beds, and cooling down in the River Seine or fountains. One boy mentioned that the his school’s summer fair of his school was cancelled due to the climate. These actions are essential due to the dramatic substantial heat. The maximum temperature was recorded in several places: Paris, 39.6 celsius; La Rochelle, 41.3 celsius; Bordeaux, 42°C celsius; Santander, 38.5°C celsius; Bilbao, 42.5°C celsius. UK had even seen its hottest day at Gosport, Hampshire where the temperature soared to 36.1°C celsius. Forecasters stated the temperature could reach 38°C celsius on Thursday.

German newspaper Die Welt stated that authorities in particular places told people to spare water and not to use barbecues.
