Her Secrets

I started going through all the papers. The first like ten or twenty stacks had nothing. That disappointed me a lot. It didn’t matter though; I had to go through all these papers. I had to find out what my grandma is hiding. I kept going through the stacks of papers. Finally, I found something. It was a paper and it had ??? at the top and a picture in the middle. Like a missing person poster or a wanted poster. I had to figure out who it was. I could tell he was young and male, around like 23 or so.

I was so happy I found that poster, even if I didn’t know what exactly it was. I kept looking through the papers. I found a magazine from the 1930s. It said “Local Townsboy Murdered”. There was an image and it looked exactly like the poster I had found. I was so excited that I ran down to go tell my mom. I go back to the room and search through all the remaining stacks. I found a journal. It was more like a diary though and it belonged to my grandma, it had many day to day life entries. I start reading, but then my mom calls me down to go get lunch. For lunch, we walked on the seaside and got some delicious seafood.

I returned to my grandma’s journal. At first, nothing happened. It was a normal day-to-day schedule.

Then I get October 20th, 1937, my grandma starts with, “I messed up.” What does that mean? As I read farther down, I get to something and it says, “I pushed him into the forest.” “I don’t know what happened to him”. Then later she writes, “He died and it’s all my fault.”

Then, I realized it is the boy from the posters. I rush downstairs to tell my mom and she just looks at me and says, “I know.” But then I recall back in the room seeing some papers with what looked like spells on them. Then, I looked more closely at my grandma’s entries, and I don’t think she pushed the boy in. She put a spell on him because he didn’t like her back.
