THE BACKWARDS DAY
I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for school when I looked out the window to see that it was night. I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me. But when I went out I saw people on leashes, cars going when the light was red, stopping when the lights were green, robbers chasing cops and shopkeepers buying from customers, planes in the ocean, and ships in the sky. It turned out that today was a backwards day and everything had to change.
Another big problem was the names. Clouds were called erasers, cars were called beanbags and dad was sky, mom was iPad, and when I got out, people started calling me turtle, which caused a lot of confusion for me. Looks like I will just have to settle with being called a turtle.
When I got to school, my classmates were all busy lecturing the teachers writing on the whiteboard.
lions had trunks, crocodiles had wings, kangaroos had beaks, and tigers had antlers.
Another big problem were jobs; doctors went out to catch robbers, firefighters built buildings, sailors opened shops, and artists started teaching yoga.
Latin was spoken with a French accent, cars honking turned into quacking sounds, buzzing became barking, and worst of all, talking was raindrops sounds.
Breakfast was eaten at night, lunch didn’t exist, dinner was at the morning, and supper was at midnight. Some people starved, others were full, and nobody was happy.
After a nonsensical day, everybody went to bed and as the midnight bell rang, everything went back to normal.
