Why Did Apple Decide to Raise MacBook and IPad Prices?

Did you know that recently Apple has decided to raise their MacBooks and IPad prices? They put this plan into action around June 25th, 2026 on a Thursday. Apple raised the price higher, making previous prices seem like a joke. For example, the 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro used to be about $3,899, but after raising the price it jumped up to $4,399. Many people are frustrated and angry with this new decision. Many all across platforms such as Youtube, X, and Tiktok are angry and calling this decision “Worse than I had thought!” and so on.

Why is Apple even raising prices in the first place? Well, Apple is raising prices to use AI memory chips to run models. Because the AI memory chips use more resources to create, Apple must make the prices higher to be able to actually make a profit. Still, it was quite unusual for Apple to raise the prices at such a random time. Usually, Apple only raises prices when releasing new, or improved devices. Unexpectedly, Apple also raised prices of unrelated items, such as the HomePod speaker and Vision Pro mixed reality headset. All of these items prices were raised on the same day, with little to no explanation.

People all over socials have been saying how Apple should have not raised the prices in general. Although Apple has every right to raise their prices, a lot of people are not happy with the huge price raise. What are your thoughts on this topic?
