All That’s Left is Pollution (A Set of Haikus)

We live in a world
with air we breathe, polluted
days earth has, numbered
One’s nightmare, now real
can one truly be content
knowing what’s ahead
Everyone aware
of atmosphere’s limit, breached
still they feel at ease
Perhaps no one cares
too much carbon dioxide
until it’s blatant
CO2 levels
harmful rather than helpful
excessive, foul gas
Better in the past
before mass production grew
where one pulled one’s weight
One should learn from past
with cleaner air, better fare
all that’s lacking now
Damage done, alas
irreversible vile deeds
cannot be undone
If only one could
go back to the older times
stop it early on
Sadly, it’s too late
since no one acted back then
so here we suffer
Cut back the carbon
still cannot reverse the harm
what’s the solution
Unproven, feeble,
“solutions” that might lead to
further suffering
Thank you, ancestors
leaving us in this crisis
forced to fix your mess
Abandoning us
right into this dilemma
without any help
Deprived of fresh air
breathing chemicals instead
none of the old glow
Where we live, less color
even in nature, hopeless
the trees that help, cut
Eventually
bending under pressure from
pollution on earth
How long will world last
will we get far or succumb
lucky, or not much
All because of them
those who did not act before
those who failed to cease
