Heatwaves in Europe Disrupting Millions of Lives
According to the Reuters, “Temperature records shattered in Europe as deadly heatwave moves east,” it states that the many deaths related to the heatwave have started to move east, reaching more than 104 degrees Fahrenheit, or 40 degrees Celsius (Seythal, reuters.com). Beyond discussing the extreme weather, the article mentions how people have started to urge others to save water. Multiple people have also died from being exposed in the hot sun for a long period of time, also known as a heat stroke. According to the New York Times, article, “More Temperature Records Fall as Deadly Heat Stifles Europe,” it states, “In Italy, this week, according to the country’s main news agency, ANSA. Several of them died while working outside, and a homeless man died in Naples, highlighting the vulnerability of those who had little choice but to be outdoors.”
Scorching heat has also started to become more and more common due to climate change, which is created from the process of burning fossil fuels. These temperatures have also started to become more severe. It is hard to tell if the heatwaves will get better or not, as of right now, July 13th, 2026, Europe is still facing the dangers of the sudden heatwaves. Soon, other states in the United States of America will also be dealing with a heatwave.
