I believe schools should be closed when the weather gets too hot because students might not be able to focus with the heat. Also, it would become very annoying for the teacher since students would be complaining to them so much that the teacher can’t teach them.

A very rare red weather warning for the blazing heat has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday for parts of southern England, the Midlands, and southern Wales. Also, the temperatures across the UK are way higher than normal.

Schools should be closed when the temperature is over 95 degrees Fahrenheit or 35 degrees Celsius. I think that because you can feel that 80 degrees is pretty hot so 95 can be very hot. Also, the sun shining in your face makes you feel hotter because UV rays cause blood vessels to puff out, which creates a flushed sensation.

At older schools that don’t have air conditioning, teachers could ask students to bring their own fans to class, or the teacher could put a big fan in the front of the class. Also, teachers could put the binds down to add more shade to the classroom.

The Department for Education spokesperson told Newsround: “We provide a range of practical guidance to help schools keep classrooms cool, including through the use of air conditioning.” Also, they said, “We design new schools to stay cool through effective ventilation and shading, and we are investing to make schools more resilient to a changing climate — including a £710 million Renewal and Retrofit Programme and almost £20 billion to rebuild over 750 schools.”
