The Little Worm
In a little garden, there lived a little worm. It was very ambitious, but very shy. It deeply wanted to venture out and explore the world beyond the fence, but was always too scared. The other creatures living in the garden encouraged him to go , including his cousin, the silk worm, his other cousin, the caterpillar, the kind old ladybug who lives in the big flower pot near the worm’s home (which was a hole), and the group of ants who live in a really big hole next to his. However, even with all of this support, the worm wouldn’t budge. He continued to stay at home each day.
But one day, a crow glided down to the garden and started terrorizing the residents! He ate all their food, he destroyed their homes, and worst of all, he kidnapped them to eat for breakfast the next day!
The shy little worm was very scared when the crow arrived, so he hid in his hole. Soon, when he came out, his friends were no where to be seen, and out in the distance, he saw the crow flying off! And on the crow’s back, the worm could see all his friends. He knew that he finally had to get out of his comfort zone and save them.
The worm was merely a teeny-weeny worm, so he needed some help. Much to his distress, no help could be found inside the garden, so he ventured out for the first time. Luckily, help was soon found, as a kind hummingbird offered to aid him.
“I hate that crow anyway. You don’t have to worry about me eating you, either, since I have a strict diet of flower nectar,” he said.
So with the worm on the hummingbird’s back, they approached the crow’s nest. The worm and the hummingbird tried pecking, biting, and smacking the crow, but each time they failed.
But the worm didn’t give up, and eventually, he smacked the crow on the rear end with his tail, and the crow was so surprised that he fell out of his nest, and the worm’s friends were safe again. They all went home, and they all decided that the hummingbird should be allowed to snack on all the nectar as he pleased from the flowers in the garden.
