In a small house in a metropolitan area lived my brother and I. Two giant palm trees in front of my house loomed over the green front yard. Next to my house was a similar house. It had a grassy lawn and an avocado tree in front of the yard. Despite the pretty appearance of the house, no one lived in it.
One summer day, while I was sitting on the porch enjoying my ice cream, a small U-Haul truck pulled by the curb. A burly man and an old lady came out of the truck. The burly man unloaded the truck as the old lady examined the house and looked pleased. She waved at me and opened the door to her new house. After a few hours the burley man unloaded all the huge boxes except for an animal cage. The man took a few steps back and then proceeded to pull out a welding helmet and a pair of heavy duty gloves from the front of the truck.

He put them on and carefully removed the animal cage from the truck. Inside the cage, I could see a flicker of light and a scaly creature moving inside. I have seen many lizards from my friends before, but none are this large. I thought it might be a Komodo Dragon or any big lizard, but then I realized that the old lady did not look like a wildlife trafficker. After I saw my ice cream already melted, I went indoors but could not help but wonder what the mysterious creature was.

The very next day, I was introduced myself to the old woman. She came up to our door around noon with some cookies she baked and asked us to introduce her to the new neighborhood. The summers here are extremely hot, but she did not mind walking around with us in a fur coat. After the tour, I mustered all my courage to ask about the cage. She laughed and led my brother and I into the new house.
With the first step inside, I saw the same thing I saw in the cage. Curled up on a rug on the floor was a dragon. I never saw anything so astonishing in my life. Bright red scales covered the creature and amber like spikes ran along its back. It had big orange wings and a spike at the end of its tail. Once it saw us, it snorted some flames and peacefully went back to sleep.
Unlike my brother, I was cautious around the creature, but my brother bounded towards it with great joy. The old lady explained she moved here to avoid publicity and just wanted to live a peaceful life. From then on, summer was no longer dull like it used to be.
