At age 16, Greta Thunberg went to New York City to address a speech in front of the world leaders during an U.N. Climate Action Summit. Great Thunberg scolds the world leaders for not taking care of nature, and allowing extra CO2 into the air.
Greta also states that,”For more than 30 years, the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you’re doing enough, when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight. You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that.” Greta states that the fact of global warming has been clear for a long time, but the world leaders still haven’t done anything to stop the warming. Greta also points out that these leaders are evil in a way, for they say they understand the urgency of the situation, yet they never put any restrictions to help the situation.
Greta inspires the young people to look at the mistakes the leaders have done, and tells them to not follow their ways, and recognize the problems. Greta even addresses the leaders as immature despite their old age. Greta Thunberg’s speech had a big impact on inspiring the young people to be open-minded and see the mistakes the world leaders made. Greta’s speech has an impact on young people, just like George.
George was a young person at the age of thirteen. After hearing Greta Thunsberg’s speech, he was inspired by her words and decided to take action. Due to Greta’s speech, George is able to tell what she wants people to do and what to not do. George also stops being supportive of what the world leaders have done. He realizes the evilness involved in the actions the leaders do. Instead of supporting the acts that President Donald Trump does, he sees the true reason and the damage Trump’s actions do.
